irene: aftermath

was at the office at 8 the next day and got sent out almost immediately. in the towns that were affected the most, the landscape was post-apocalyptic: highways crumpled like tissue paper, grey sludgy mud deeper than knee-high in some places. it was fucking unbelievable.

that… is not a lake or a pond. that is a backyard.

no choice but to throw away literal tons of ruined produce because whatever the river washed in is actually pretty toxic. this is the woodstock farmer’s market. four feet of water swept through it and covered everything in silt and debris. i wonder what the owners throught when they came in the next day and found the cheese case on its side in a mud embankment, 20 feet away from where they left it.
